Initially I was going to say this defeats the purpose, but to be honest I never change mine once I found the setting I was ok with....at least you could switch back and forth to the stiffer or softer setting "on the fly" if you actually wanted to. I personally have never felt the need to tinker with the relatively large amount of adjustments the SPLs offer.
